After over 5000 year of women being treated like objects?

After constant invalidation, dismissal, and men refusing to see things from a perspective other than their own?

After the laws finally changed - and now women can (gasp) own property, manage their own money, and make their own choices in life - we're fucking sick of living under the "truth" of men who've never even tried to see things from the feminine POV.

Now men are attempting to calling for equality?

And now screaming that they are the victims?

It's not that custody issues or workplace risks aren't worth considering. It's that we can't consider these issues without ALSO considering the plight of all the women, children, and non-white, non-men FIRST.

Equality is something that SHOULD be taken seriously. But it is NOT a one way street. And men don't get to skip to the front of the line. Not after all this time.

You asked - "Are men not entitled to the same empathy and support that society readily extends to their female counterparts?"

But can you see that it's a pretty obvious double standard to demand empathy and support from society or women - when most men have never (historically or currently) extended this empathy and support TO women, or the problems of society.

I'd venture to guess this is what's at the heart of women's fury. Not the ask for mutuality. But the double standard where men get to demand mutuality without ever extending it back.

Kapeesh?
