Generally, of course, you're right. Processing animals in CAFOs is NOT ethical in the least. This was the soundest vest vegan evangelism I've ever read.

But you're assuming that morality is black and white.

Don't kill things because it's immoral. Ok, ok, yes, but...

Are you at all familiar with Allan Savory? His work is fascinating.

"While doing great good in drawing the public’s attention to such practices, therein also lies a tragedy in that you are opposing the management indirectly by opposing eating meat or using animal products, rather than opposing the management of agriculture directly. Management of agriculture that is not only inhumane to animals but producing twenty times as much dead eroding soil as food we need for every human each year – more damaging to our environment and future than any other industry of mankind."

This system that we are a part of is fully interconnected. Birth, Life, Death, Decomposition, and to the soil will we all return, no matter what. Predator and prey are supposed to be parts of the great wheel.

Yes. Of course we could do it better.

Yes. A huge NO to factory farming, big AG, and clearcutting, and war... all of it.

Yes. Evolution, kindness, morality, and a sound adherence to the principles of the integrated circle, or spiral if you will, are also possible future outcomes that wouldn't be so bad.

But the definition of morality as simply "not hurting others" needs to be examined in more depth. The nature of a complex system is that you can influence, but not direct it...

What we agree about is - we need to do far better. And we can. Most of our problems on this earth are a matter of human to human disagreement.
