There is this funny thing that happens when death looms over us
When we face our greatest existential threats, often, we remember that we are currently alive. We recall that we are part of something greater than ourselves. We identify our desire to be alive, and not dead. We know there is a reason that we are here, even if we can’t exactly put our finger on it.
The pleasure of being alive becomes palpable in the face of death. And we know there must be some purpose to our lives as humans.
Before western civilization rose to its’ perceived ascendency, we had wisdom traditions. These traditions connected to the primordial perspective of life, which included ideas like — We are all one being, connected together by spirit. We may have different experiences in different bodies, but while our bodies come and go, our spirits are eternal. We are a part of the mystery of life, and we become human in order to get a better view and understanding of the Divine.
