Hey Andrew. Yeah, I’ve felt this dynamic and understand it isn’t all butterflies and roses for men either. And as women have gotten more empowered and more emboldened to speak up for themselves, especially in the last decade, I get how men often feel targeted.
The thing is - the patriarchy isn’t really a man v woman thing. It sucks for EVERYONE. Men included. I hear you.
I think the patriarchy CAN be described more equitably as a masculine suppression of the feminine - where each person, regardless of gender - has both aspects inside: our masculine is our brain and our logic - while our feminine is our body and our intuition.
And we live in a world that has, for the past few thousand years, been dominated by the mind, while we’ve become more and more disconnected from our bodies.
Yeah of course women have their own work to do, and we can’t BLAME men for everything. But… sacred rage is a thing - look at the goddesses of old - that repped for love AND war.
The constructive part of the fight women are putting up everywhere right now is a fight FOR RECONNECTION
Bitching about men from a destructive point of view is just a blame game, and the patriarchy in disguise, as far as I can see.
If men are tired of women bitching at them, then they need to ALSO look in the mirror and see how the cultural conditioning of the manbox absolutely disconnects them from being able to hear or honor both women as well as the feminine within.
Maybe this piece will illuminate more of what I mean.
