Hi Rachel Anne. What an interesting article. It’s awesome to see the scope of your personal philosophy on this murky topic of identity.

I think you’re right in saying the way a person presents is not directly correlated to the way they choose to identify. And I also think that if someone wants to know who or what another someone is, or how they want to be addressed/related to, maybe the best approach is just to ask. Human to human, right?

So in light of this, I have a question for you. How does nonbinary with a femme presentation, she/her pronouns, and a deep-thinking mind actually feel to you? How do you want to be related to by the world at large?

Instead of knowing how NOT to relate to you, instead, how DO you want the world around you to relate to you?

I identify as female (she/her) but am going through this process of reclaiming the feminine side of myself that I previously amputated via hidden and internalized misogyny.

It feels slightly analogous to waking up realizing that I meant to be an integrated human, but goofed up and slipped off the side of that identity into my more masculine aspects in an attempt to avoid the pain of modern womanhood.

It’s not the same, not at all. But I’m fascinated by the dialogue we are able to have about identity these days. So I thought I might just ask.

Respectfully.
