I almost feel like we’re getting to know each other here. This is the BEST part of medium, imho. 😎
One of my favorite lenses on things comes from an idea that our modern culture was built on the story of separation. Prior to the advent of writing, there was more of a sense of us being a PART of nature. Not the so called masters of it.
And what could be happening now, if we are wise, is a readoption of the story of interdependence.
It was in the creation of transactional relations that sex became a commodity. In nature, human and otherwise, sex was a sacred gift. Ergo, the idea of the hieros gamos, or sacred union. The joining of 2 to bring forth new life. Seed and soil, or man and woman. Same same.
I doubt it was utopian, as we live, and will always live on a spectrum of “good” and “bad” experiences.
But this idea that there are good and evil forces, evil masters behind the witch as you say, MIGHT be (again conjecture) a result of this separation that became part of the human narrative.
The ability to control our environment became a story of fear of NOT controlling. We started fearing death, whereas before we simply mourned its presence, maybe without trying so hard to overcome it.
Anyhow, this video speaks pretty eloquently to the whole idea. It’s about 12 minutes long.
Would love to hear your take on it.
