I also left the church in high school. Being an intelligent woman with questions about the discrepancies between religion and nature was almost as horrifying to the church as if I were gay!!!
People are complex.
I can empathize with your Paul, and the holy light of love that squeaks through religion from the spirit it was originally built on. And I also cannot abide by the insanity that calls itself modern evangelicalism.
