I just sat and had a conversation with my two kids this morning about this. You describe the situation of racism and being a “good” white woman so very well.

While I agree with the sentiment “All Lives Matter” as a general matter of course, I explained to the kids why that particular statement is NOT the right thing to say right now.

I explained to them why “BLACK Lives Matter” is accurate, appropriate, and the ONLY thing we can say in support of positive change right now. I hope they got it!

On another note, I just started reading this book (fun fun…) and it has some eye opening research on communication that has some bearing on the conversation about the -isms might be made more productive.
