I love Umair’s posts just like I love mysogynistic, opportunistic, capitalist hip hop. It’s the beat that draws me in. The rhythm.

Unless it’s ‘Pac. His lyrics still live in my head, though I’m all meta about them now.

Catastrophe-porn 🌩. That really nails it. Jeez.

As I mature as a writer, I’m less tempted to indulge. I know it isn’t really good for me.

But there are plenty of us writing like Lauren Hill, Mos Def, and OutKast these days. A lighter hand but still, good beats.

Happy to point you to a few illuminated authors you might not find if the algorithm only knows you as a reader if Umair’s.
