I tend to agree with Luigi’s idea that intergenerational trauma can be inherited - and that the society that dulls our agency simultaneously rewards the least empathetic folk with the most “wealth.”
If he was the son of wealthy folks who were less than ideal parents, he’s probably describing his own experience.
How often do people really get wealthy by BENEFITTING life? Vs how often they get wealthy by EXPLOTING it?
At age 26, dare I say he is entering his Saturn’s return? Not to be too woo, but Saturns return is a time that:
“Emphasis on personal responsibility: The texts stress the importance of taking responsibility for one’s life during a Saturn Return. This might involve breaking free from patterns or expectations imposed by ancestors or family members, allowing individuals to forge their own paths and identities.”
Maybe he made a bad call? Maybe his choices were not the most measured or morally correct
But it sure seems like he was taking responsibility for the NPC nature of forebears that got rich by playing the game of money.
My 2 cents
And yeah, we should talk about both narratives I agree
