I was talking to a mutual friend the other day who mentioned y’all have conversations about the larger implications of how humans relate to Eros. For this is one of my own favorite topics of discussion. I’m talking about Eros not in the superficial meaning of sexual love, but in the deeper meaning of the guiding principle of love for all life. Or the source of all life.
Our fear, suppression, and frantic distancing of our selves from the principle of Eros is where the fear is born. The fear of the inhumane world killing us or worse, and so we strive for control. Fear and a need for (the illusion of) control is where the myopic drive of the so called “rich” west for profit is born.
What ever happened to trust? Community? And as you state so many times in this piece, FAIRNESS? We lost it when we decided we could be in control.
Perhaps this particular illness will shake us from our stupor? One would hope.
If we can stick around long enough to make this change real. One would hope.
