I was talking with a new friend of mine the other day, a successful romance author and book promoter who is working on flipping her own script.

After a bout with depression, mental illness, and a survive attempt two and half years ago, she woke up abruptly to the idea that she wanted to take a new path forward.

She took her books off the market, started spending time with lots of self-care, and began examining how she could reinvent herself in a way that felt better and more meaningful.

She said she realized the endless men’s naked torso’s on romance covers were just too much at odds with her sense of self and what she wanted out of life.

Now she’s exploring the idea of turning the romance genre on its head. She wants to write SELF-romance books, where the heroine starts out thinking she wants a man to save her, then discovers her love for herself in the end. And how satisfying and fulfilling those books are going to be.

You share your stories with us all the time. I thought you might like to hear one back.

So yes! Break down the old story and bring on the new. I can think of no one in a better place or headspace to take on this challenge and go BIG! I believe in you mama. Get it.
