I’d argue the indigenous genocide and the slave trade were both pre- (and to some extent current with) the commodification of women’s bodies.
Intersectionality this just means they’re ALL related, and ALL pretty awful. It’s not that one is more or less awful than the others.
I could not agree more about the need to address white racism, right up there alongside the patriarchy. All of them are symptoms of the dominance mindset that is currently crushing equity and access in the world.
I’ll also say, put the indigenous women and the black women at the front of the line for reparations. I’d like to at least be able to use my (regrettable) privilege and voice in the current system to advocate for those that dont have as much volume or credibility, and who’ve suffered unspeakable horrors.
It’s time for us to decenter BOTH racism and sexism. But these two illnesses go together like peanut butter and jelly.
