If the church really wanted to put it's higher ideals into practice, which I agree with you COULD happen, they'd have to stop referring to GOD as a man. Since the creator of all realms and energies is not a human, this shouldn't be all that hard. But the instant that you suggest that GOD could also be a woman (never mind the fact that it says this in the actual Bible itself) many devotees of "the church" lose their fucking mind.

Yes to the sanctity of life, yes to our responsibility to live in harmony with life and the environment, yes to helping one another, and yes to treating both our bodies and our planet as a holy temple.

But NO to a white male GOD that gave birth to the world from the sky in 7 days, and now threatens us with everlasting hell for refusing to treat divine immanence as a sin.

I don't even have to get into the rampant abuse and power plays of people in the church, which as you know is bad. The basic doctrine itself is peak patriarchy.
