I’m college educated and have been the primary breadwinner working in tech for the past decade. My husband is a gardener and martial arts instructor with a high school education.

I would not be nearly as fulfilled without my husband in my life. The space he holds for me and our kids, the work he does on our homestead and in our home is vital and very important.

Maybe if we stopped conflating income potential with personal value, this whole issue you write about, quite eloquently btw, could be overturned.

The whole “who’s got a higher status” thing was flaming crap when men held the “power” in society. It will still be flaming crap as women start to be seen as doing the same.

You aren’t wrong about women’s rise and men’s fall. But maybe we should just reframe the situation instead of fearing the worst.

Maybe we just need better definitions of what matters. Just saying.
