Maybe? Just maybe? The problem isn’t the idealism, but rather the scale?
Maybe we need millions of little communities that we can wrap our souls around, and wrap ourselves up inside of?
My friend Jim Young and I were talking one day about the difference between “networking” (like the social events for personal gain you spoke of here) and “planting wildflower seeds” which is the idealistic, slow drip art of connecting with fascinating people. A few per week or month. And seeing what pops up.
The main difference is in the latter, we bring our gifts and share. In the former, it’s all about what we can get, and how high we can climb.
