My husband and I got marriage tattoos. Not the little ring tattoos or two parts of one image or anything like that. He has a full sleeve dragon and I have a different dragon by the same artist that stretches from my right knee up to my ribs. We figured that relationships are beautiful and painful and challenging, so why not get huge complimentary tattoos that echo that process.
And, like Elle, doing what I want to my own body is liberating. I don’t give a fuck what I will look like when I’m old. Because I don’t care what people think about how I look.
