My son recently encountered this word — he was watching the YouTube video for the song Playing With The Boys from Top Gun.
I was horrified when the p-word was included in the dialogue right after the volleyball scene.
My son, of course, asked me what it meant. Pissed off and retreating into nerdy superiority, (my safe space) I talked to him about the root words pusillus & animus, and the term pusillanimous.
Though now, I’m not entirely sure the use of the word pussy didn’t actually originate from porn films. Goddess bless the internet.
In any case, I told him that people used the word as a derogatory way to refer to what we call the yoni, which is I feel a much better term for this powerful bit of anatomy.
Fucking words. Fucking culture.
Needless to say, the only time I’ll ever use the word pussy in spoken language is when it’s followed by the word cat, and referring to the cute furry purring kind of pet I love.
