Of course pain is costly. Especially when we treat it (systemically, not personally) as the enemy.
What if we saw pain as a teacher? What if we were to look in to the myriad lifestyle reasons our modern culture CAUSES so much pain.
Without taking anything away from your current experience - as I understand you can't do much about being born with a genetic disease like MED - let's take the lens deeper, and more multigenerational.
What are we doing to the ecosystems (of which we are a part) that is messing with our genetics? What are we doing to our food supply and our nervous systems? What are we doing in society that causes hormonal disruptions? Where is this pain coming from?
There is no perfect answer - I'm aware of that as well. But if we keep working downstream of the pain, instead of swimming upstream to find it's abundant and growing headwaters - we're going to keep chasing our tails.
How do we stop causing so much pain in the body? And when do we start seeing this pain as a teacher that can guide us to that approach?
