Once upon a time, we did have safer communities. Once upon a time, those communities were places where we celebrated our rites of passage from childhood to adolescence, and from adolescence into adulthood.

Those times are not now. Clearly.

But as human animals, I get why we want to share these things with folks closest to us. Not to the internet at large.

The biggest difference is to treat your kids with respect. Ask them if they are ok if you share within a finite group of safe people that you are celebrating their maturation. Get their CONSENT before you share these things.

That’s basic self respect.
