Perhaps as we reach the apex of peak domination, there really IS a force in the world that's supressing our feminine creativity. It's called the market fucking economy, and it is a harsh taskmaster.
Like you, I grew up thinking that the need for feminism was behind us. I felt empowered. Actually, I was allowed to feel powerful! And then one day I had kids, and everything changed. Quite the bait and switch.
It's not that we aren't "allowed" to be creative in a hierarchy of domination. It's just that we're trained that all the other things we're "supposed" to do take precedence over our creativity. Who else is going to do all that labor that sustains the market?
Creation is what the factories and the drills and the pumps and the machines do these days. Creation is what's assigned to the minions of the mind.
But as women, we know in our bones that this is false. Creation and beauty are as pivotal to life on earth as anything. And by embracing this, despite the challenges in doing so, maybe we are just working to steer the world back to where it belongs.
What a powerhouse of a piece! Loved it!
