Someone wise once said, “The middle path is the best path.” I think it might have been the prophet Muhammed. Just like other potentially addictive things, it is not about the things themselves — but rather about how we choose to relate to them.

I struggle with screen time balance in many ways. With an entrepreneurial nature and a hustle I’m working to grow into a more substantial income. With my kids watching me and wondering why I get to be on my phone while they are limited in their time with their iPads and the TV. With a growing focus on mindfulness and the high-wire act of being responsive to opportunities and the world I can access through the internet, and a sense of grounded purpose and self-disciplined schedule.

I agree with you Patrick Farrell — it’s a conversation that needs to be had. Even if we are ironically shaking our heads at the fact that the conversation is taking place on the very platform we are trying to find our balance in relationship with.
