The moon cycle is powerful! While I don’t follow the same protocol exactly, I DO talk with both of my kids about all that stuff.

In the Song of the Lioness series, book 1 (by Tamora Pierce) there is a great scene about menarche that is a good one for informing without being graphic or shameful. Great series for kids too, and the audiobook is really good.
