This article is great. Well done.
One thing I’ve learned from years of freelancing from home as a largely stay at home Mom is to build community. In normal times this means having a group of families with similar values and similar diets where we the parents can pinch-hit for one another.
This means it’s possible to schedule a call with a client or do a single deep session of work, knowing you’ve got other families to have your back. Because you know they’re going to have yours when THEY need to schedule an appointment.
In the current crisis, things are a little different.
But we are close friends with one other family that lives close by and decided to become one germ pod together. This gives us a 4 adult to 8 children ratio, and allows the kids to play with some friends, and go to 2 different houses.
If we had to be home all of us together with no breaks, well… I did write a piece on fighting better with your family recently.
