This is a systemic setup. Not an individual one. It's not until one realizes you have a choice in how you live your life - that it starts to change how you choose. So we can choose to have empathy for Hannah, or we can choose to judge her choices. Or both. Neither will change her life. All we really get is the opportunity change our own!

That power of that heavenly afterlife is a powerful thing. It's a mighty carrot dangled in front of people to make them behave the way the systems that be, in this case, the money and religious systems, want them to.
