This is the very issue that started me down the rabbithole of discovery! I wondered how this could possibly be true. Now I believe it is not.

There is actually A lot of archaeological evidence of a time when this power structure didn’t exist.

If you have a chance (and the inclination) to read The Chalice and The Blade, it’s an eye opener.

Part of the reason I think we’ve been sold this story that the hierarchy of power has always existed is that the culture that initially interpreted these archaeological findings was already firmly rooted in the domination culture itself.

They say history books are written by the winners. So…

Art that showed plants and the mysteries of birth and death was interpreted as war art. It’s a fascinating tale, albeit rather sad. We started at one point to honor the power to kill over the power to bring life into the world. Graves went from being equal to being the graves of strongmen and chieftains with their animals and their women. Pastoralists invaded the Fertile Crescent and everything started to change.

Dr. Eisler’s work initially exposed me to the concept of the fact that human culture is created by humans, and we can choose 😉 another way. If we want to.

My passion for this topic obviously goes far beyond gender issues. I just feel like we haven’t been given all the data. Our information has come from a skewed place, and now we have a chance to change this.

Technology is connecting us in a way unprecedented in human history. We are being given the chance to change, together, how we relate to each other and the world. Let’s take it!

I think the Domination / Partnership spectrum is a hugely important thing to recognize if we want to effectively address the challenges of climate change, income inequality, justice between people, and our collective ability to make a world of the future where humans still get to survive.

Thank you so much for taking a moment to read my work. I deeply appreciate the exchange.
