This reminds me (in spirit) of the conversation I’ve been having lately with “conscious and evolved” men and the reason why no matter how “woke” they get, they still feel the urge to tell a woman what her experience ought to be. Like they want an “I’m partipating” sticker for the work they’re doing in dismantling the patriarchy.

I love these guys and appreciate them. In many ways they are MY family too. But they will never actually be a woman, and they still don’t seem to get that they won’t.

So go on with your queer self of color. You have every right to your way of being. And you don’t have to let ANYONE you don’t choose to invite into your party.
