We have a home laundry, but it’s been broken for well over a month awaiting repairs. So I’ve been going to our local laundromat. Fortunately, we have a really awesome and clean one right down the street.
Though I’ll be rather glad when we finally get ours fixed, here are a few things I LIKE about the laundromat chore:
1. It’s such a huge task that everyone actually participates. Gather all the dirty laundry and sheets and towels and make a GIANT pile in the living room. And when I show up (with sorted piles) then everyone jumps right in to put them away. No more languishing laundry piles.
2. I finally get the time to listen to my audiobook or podcast for more than 15 minutes at a time. 3 whole hours of a book? Amazing!!!
3. If I’m really slick, I take my laptop and WFH while I do laundry. There are no lines or vicious patrons at 10am on a Thursday morning. Sometimes privilege shows even when you’re doing laundry. Believe me, I realize it!
But your piece made me laugh all the same!
