Well, you are already a writer. And when you are ready, you can take the other steps to claim the rest of your life.
I had a similar, but much less intense situation with my Mother for years.
One day I realized that I had signed no contract with her. I had agreed to nothing. And when I packed up and went my own way, SHE was the one who had to deal with the loss of her expectations. Not me.
We still talk now, and our relationship is good. I’m not Thai, or Chinese, or Japanese. But I’ve spent a lot of time in Korean culture.
