What a powerful and haunting piece Rivka. You're so spot on with the idea that not eating is a substitution for the anger we feel but are not allowed to express. It's a dissociative process designed to help us survive in a world that tells us NOT to get too big. NOT to feel powerful. And that bodies are evil, bad, and dirty in a world where the transcendant is all that should really honestly matter.

It's such a mindfuck.

I'm taking this class right now that addresses all of this in great detail. The practices of the class are designed to reconnect us to the healthy power of sacred rage. This cohort is nearly over - but based on this piece, I bet you'd get a lot out of what Maya has to teach. She runs this course once a year.

Here is to passion. To anger. To sexuality and sensuality. And to finding ourselves in a world that doesn't seem to want us to be found.
