One of the books that broke some of this spell for me was Don Miguel Ruiz's classic The Four Agreements. His breakdown of the dream of the planet, our agreements with ourselves, and the voices of the judge and the victim unconsciously following the book of law that we create for ourselves was highly illuminating.

You look like someone I would have been friends with in middle school. Probably a trombone player in the marching band. Lol. I was damned geeky in those days too. It was awesome in its own pre-social media way. I can't imagine the angst it would have caused us today.
