What an eloquent read, and a very resonant one. Hope to spare — not a lot, but I have a little.
People like Deeyah Khan and Charles Eisenstein keep my candle lit.
This remarkable interview has the quote, “I refuse to dehumanize the people who dehumanize me, because if I did what would the difference between us be?”
And this book — Climate: A New Story — is deep and wide. Chapter 9 gave me hope, after the first part of the book set me up at the edge of the cliff.
I think you’re right. Those of us lucky enough to temper our trauma by limiting consumption of information should. We can choose to keep our own candles lit during this dark time, with the understanding there will be much to do in the near future with our light.
Maybe the fear is the rite of passage. What could take us through it? Patience. Hope. Love.
In the meantime…do as best as we can.
