What I Really Want As A US Voter

How about some coverage of the local races?

As I drove past the early voting signs in Texas this week, it struck me. I don’t know who I want to vote for!

No, not for president. But for all the other races that affect the governance of my city, my county, my school boards, and my state. There are 41 races and 2 propositions on my ballot according to vote411.org. The media only ever seems to talk about one of them.

While I know that who sits in the hallowed Oval Office is a big part of our political infrastructure, it’s far from the only office that matters. Regarding the presidency in 2024, there’s so much spin, it’s almost impossible to know which end is up.

As of 2024, five corporations — Comcast, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount Global, and Fox Corporation — dominate most of the mainstream media. Freepress.net

It’s hard to trust the intention of ANY media outlet when they all seem to profit from keeping the electorate polarized, confused, and at each others throats.
