Wouldn’t it be nice if the responsibility of raising kids was evenly distributed between men and women? Wouldn’t it be nice if, instead of demonizing parents, and especially women, who walk away from their children, we found a way to form a society that wasn’t so crazy-making that people felt forced to make that choice? Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all still live in tribes, so that mothers who needed to walk away for a while to keep their sanity and sense of self could do so, without being labeled a “walk-away mother.”

We are asking the wrong questions and having the wrong conversation here.

Maybe we could be asking WHY some mothers and some fathers feel that they are not capable of safely raising their kids, and make the terrible choice to walk away from their family and their dependents because of it.

Maybe if pop-culture and modern media produced content that looked at the WHY of terrible situations, instead of simply judging the WHAT, we could stop this phenomenon from happening.
