I think women have fallen into enforcing #manbox rules in a lot of ways. Both on men because of stupid social norms. AND on ourselves, because we are also told the way to “get ahead” is to amputate our own femininity and act from our masculine.

It was how WE women got tricked into thinking we could become successful in a “man’s world.”

I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with the whole “man up,” thing. I can assure you I have personally never said that to a man, and I warn both my kids about the trap all the time.

I teach a class - mostly geared at excising the hidden patriarchal norms from INSIDE women, where we don’t know they’re hiding. Quite the tangled knot!
