You're inside my head, Michelle. I couldn't agree more. This is exactly the reasoning that has led me and mine to start a commune. Not a cult, mind you... But a collective of shared resources and skills.

Maybe what you speak of is the samething as the movement called "re-villaging." Where we reimagine what life might look like without a modern infrastructure. And what death might look like in such a world too. Though I'll admit to being grateful I got both of my cataracts tended to during the lockdown years.
